The best breakfast in the world is the “Van” Breakfast, originating from South East Turkey. A king’s (or a queen’s) breakfast – with a wide ranging sweet and savoury dishes, cheeses, butter, the very special “Kaymagi”, and the scrambled eggs. I am not listing out the whole spread – it needs to be experienced. If you don’t have the time or space to visit Van, then the next best thing is to visit Van Kahvalti Evi in Istanbul. A 10 minutes walk from Taksim – this breakfast place is always reliable, and will leave your with heart and tummy full!

Rainy morning in Istanbul and this place delivered. The Turkish breakfast spread was beautiful, fresh, and perfect for photos, but even better in taste. Let me say, “Get the Buffalo Cheese & Honey” (don’t knock it until you try it). That was a combination that I never knew I needed until I had it and now your girl is hooked. “The Menemen” dish was like having tomatoes purred and eggs with sausages inside, when I say, “ It didn’t disappoint, I mean it delivered and the chef came himself to ask how it was. My friend had the sunny side up egg dish with mushrooms, trust in believe (everything tastes like home.) maybe not my American home because Istanbul serving with the freshest of the fresh here. Lol. Cozy atmosphere, friendly service, and a great start before exploring Cihangir and the colorful steps. Definitely a must-visit if you want an authentic breakfast experience, not just a tourist stop. Ali was our waiter, and he gave amazing suggestions on what we should try and he didn’t disappoint.

We visited this restaurant on the first day of our trip. The traditional Turkish breakfast (kahvalti) was very tasty, so much so that we chose this breakfast for the entire trip. But what I liked most was the atmosphere of the place and the people there. The entire staff is extremely friendly, and they will advise you on what goes best with what. We also learned that they are from Van, which is where the restaurant gets its name. We recommend everyone visit!
